Longboarding is pretty similar to skateboarding, although the boards are much longer at about 24 to 80 inches. The sprot of longboarding was borne out of surfers wanting to do something similar on dry land when the surf conditions weren’t great. Here, we’ve compiled a list of the best cities for longboarding – although of course these picks are great for skateboarders too! The major benefit of longboards as opposed to skateboards is that they are bit more durable and better for cruising long distances and community, whereas skateboards are better for tricks and stunts and short distances. Malmo is considered one of the world’s top destinations for longboarders, particularly in summer where they have a lot of sunshine for something like 17 hours of the day. There are a long of smooth concrete surfaces, which are perfect for longboarders, and it’s home to Sweden’s skateboard scene too so you can meet likeminded people.

Cape Town is sunny city with an epic surf culture, so there’ll be no shortage of other longboarders for you to hook up with. There’s also a vibrant skater scene, and several impressive skateparks so you can combine longboarding with some skateboarding too.

South Korea is known for its skater scene and urban underground grunge culture. It’s also know for its modern architecture complete with plenty of spots for urban skating and longboarding.
